In their relentless efforts in maintaining an eco-friendly environment and protecting attractions of immense significance, staff of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, National Tourist Board and Monument and Relics Commission led by Minister Nabeela Tunis together with partners and volunteers have undertaken another massive beach cleaning exercise at Lumley-Aberdeen beach.
This regular cleaning exercise, a solid pillar in the Ministry’s 2025 Year of Eco-Tourism underscores the sector’s resolve to restoring orderliness and decorum in maintaining the outstanding natural beauty of prime tourist attractions.
During the exercise, Minister Tunis remarked that in order to build on the gains of the 2024 Tourism for All Campaign with regards to restoring sanity on the beach, regular beach cleaning endeavors should be undertaken to maintain the momentum of locals and tourists flocking the beach. She expressed dissatisfaction with beach bar owners for dumping their dirt on the beach, while reiterating that punitive measures will be instituted against any act aimed that littering the beach. She encouraged all to be Eco conscious in protecting attractions and keeping the environment safe.
This beach cleaning exercise, comprising the private sector, civil society organizations, community members, partners and volunteers demonstrate that the 2025 Year of Ecotourism is all inclusive.
