Freetown witnessed a powerful cultural moment on Friday, 1st May 2026, as Song of Njama premiered at the Bintumani Auditorium to a packed and captivated audience. The live music and dance theatrical production, written by Dori Turay and directed by Bilal Jalloh (Beejay International), delivered a deeply moving story rooted in heritage, identity, and spiritual connection. From the opening scene, the atmosphere was electric yet reverent, setting the tone for what many described as an unforgettable night in Sierra Leone’s performing arts calendar.

The production, staged in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, aligns strongly with the Ministry’s 2026 Year of Culture and Creativity agenda, which seeks to spotlight and elevate local talent, particularly in theatre and the performing arts. Through its rich storytelling, traditional symbolism, and immersive musical experience, Song of Njama demonstrated the immense creative potential within Sierra Leone, reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to nurturing and promoting cultural expression on a national and global stage.
