Sierra Leone and Jamaica Reaffirm Historic Cultural Ties in High-Level Ministerial Engagement

Sierra Leone’s Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Farida Tunis, on Friday 30 January 2026 held a high-level engagement with Jamaica’s Minister of Culture, Entertainment and Sport, Honorable Olivia Babsy Grange, reaffirming the strong historical and cultural ties between Sierra Leone and Jamaica.

The meeting highlighted shared heritage, cultural resilience, and the role of creativity in national identity and global influence. Discussions focused on strengthening cultural cooperation, deepening people-to-people connections, and exploring opportunities for sustained collaboration.

The Minister briefed her counterpart on Sierra Leone’s Year of Culture and Creativity and referenced flagship initiatives that serve as platforms for cultural exchange and diaspora engagement. Both sides expressed a shared commitment to building long-term partnerships and agreed on the importance of establishing a clear framework to guide future cooperation.
