Celebrating the Year of Culture & Creativity: Global Music Producer Elkan connects with the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Nabeela Farida Tunis to spotlight Sierra Leonean talent

Friday, 2nd January, 2026.

Elkan is a 22-year-old UK-born artist of
Sierra Leonean heritage, now a Global
artist and Music Producer who is making huge waves in today’s pop and other music genres. He is a multi-instrumentalist and composer, and he has cemented himself as one of the most exciting young producers in the Continent and beyond.

The Minister Nabeela Farida Tunis had a fruitful engagement with the World-renowned Sierra Leonean Artist and Music Producer Elkan, his Mother and the CEO of Creative Hub Africa around the remarkable exploits made by Elkan within the global music community, and how best we can promote his Sierra Leonean heritage and transmit the clout he currently commands into cultural and touristic leverage for Sierra Leone.

In his statement, Elkan thanked the Minister for the audience, noting that it demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to the creative industry. He added that Sierra Leone is endowed with outstanding talents across board, shining light on such talent remains a key missing link. He called for creative spaces for young people to express themselves — be it in music, story telling, arts or poetry. He also briefed the Minister that he is currently on capturing video footage of points of interest within Sierra Leone, which he intends to form part of his music video.

His views were reechoed by his mom and Madam Harrison, who also highlighted the massive limitations within the creative space.

The Minister, in her remarks, thanked the team for courtesy call. She noted that Elkan is truly musical genius who is set to unlock new frontiers within the global creative scene. She emphasised that the visit coincides with the onset of the Year of Culture and Creativity, a campaign that recognizes the role of people, cultures and creative skills in shaping our collective future.

The meeting concluded with a resolution to do beach pop-up event on Sunday 4th January, at Rive No.2, in order to promote Elkan and underscore the Ministry’s undying determination to amplify the culture and creativity.
