Yesterday, 20th December, 2024, the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Mrs Nabeela Tunis joined fellow Sierra Leoneans in bidding farewell to the legendary cultural icon, Lansana Sheriff, affectionately known as Steady Bongo

On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, and its agencies she extended heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family and to the nation at large. She noted that Steady Bongo’s immense contributions in promoting Sierra Leone’s rich culture and advancing its global presence through music and artistry will forever be etched in our history.

She also took the opportunity to highlight the importance of recognizing and celebrating the efforts of cultural ambassadors like Steady Bongo during their lifetimes. His tireless dedication to showcasing Sierra Leone’s cultural heritage serves as a reminder to us all to honor those who make lasting impacts on our society, often in ways that may go unnoticed or underappreciated.
