The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs in collaboration with Sierra Leone Tour Guide Association is joining the rest of the world in celebrating the United Nations (UN) World Tourist Guide Day, on the theme: Our Guardians in Promoting and Encouraging Green Tourism. The commemoration serves as a vibrant tribute to the unsung heroes of travel and also provides an opportunity to highlight the profession on the world stage.
The Sierra Leone Tour Guide Association is using the day to educate members of the public through radio and television discussions on the importance of tour guiding professionals in the tourism industry. The celebration falls within the Travel and Hospitality month of the Tourism for All Campaign, in that light, the Ministry in collaboration with the Association will organize free city tours for students, professionals and diplomats as well as hold a symposium for travel and tourism professionals.
