Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs holds Ecotourism Awareness Raising Float Parade

In their continued efforts to intensify Ecotourism awareness to communities, the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, together with its agencies, National Tourist Board, Monument and Relics Commission has successfully staged a resounding roadshow on Ecotourism and sustainable environmental practices.

2025 has been dubbed by the Ministry as the year of Ecotourism, underscoring the importance of conservation, culture and community. The float parade was part of series of lined-up community based engagement aimed at encouraging citizens to be ecoconscious.

Led by the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Tunis, the day-long event featured street processions at Jui Junction, Calaba Town, Wellington PMB, Portee, Shell, Upgun and Dwarzark Junction, explaining to citizens the significance of ecotourism and the negative effects of harmful environmental practices. Comic performances by Wan Pot Comedians, Reggae Union Sierra Leone, NTB mascot, Skit by the Ministry’s theatre group and performance of the ecotourism theme song by Kelvin Little all conveyed the significance of protecting the environment and safeguarding tourists attraction.
