The Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Mrs. Nabeela Farida Tunis, has paid a working visit to her counterpart, the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts of the Republic of Guinea, Hon. Moussa Sylla, to explore opportunities to strengthen tourism and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

The two Ministers discussed key areas of cooperation, particularly the development of joint cross-border tourism packages to leverage the shared geographical and cultural heritage of Sierra Leone and Guinea

Minister Tunis also invited Guinea to participate in two major international events that Sierra Leone will host—the One Nation Reggae Festival and the 3rd UN Tourism Regional Forum on Gastronomy Tourism for Africa. The discussions also covered opportunities for culinary exchanges and for opening the Coastal Unity Boat Race to teams from Guinea and Liberia.

Recognizing the significant potential for partnership, Guinea’s Minister of Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts, Hon. Moussa Sylla, proposed the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on culture, tourism, and heritage, including collaboration on UNESCO World Heritage nominations. The two sides also agreed to establish a joint working group to coordinate and advance the agreed areas of cooperation.

Minister Sylla also extended an invitation to Sierra Leone to participate in Guinea’s maiden Djembe Festival, scheduled for December, an invitation which Minister Tunis warmly welcomed.

The working visit marks an important step towards strengthening the longstanding ties between Sierra Leone and Guinea and transforming their shared geography, culture and heritage into greater opportunities for tourism development, cultural exchange and regional cooperation across the Mano River region.: The Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Mrs. Nabeela Farida Tunis, has paid a working visit to her counterpart, the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Handicrafts of the Republic of Guinea, Hon.
