Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs & Agencies hold Coastal Community Engagements at Lakka and Number 2 Beac

Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Tunis has led a delegation comprising senior management and staff of the Ministry and its agencies to Lakka and Number 2 beach respectively.

The visit aimed at establishing partnerships with coastal communities to ensure sustainable environmental practices for the protection of prime touristic beaches and keeping the environment safe. Discussions with community stakeholders at these touristic sites were centered around curbing sand mining, addressing waste management and enhancing safety and security measures at the beach.

At Lakka, Mrs. Tunis and team were taken on a tour of the massive destruction caused by sand mining, similar sand mining effect was also visible at Number 2 beach. She encouraged community stakeholders to be eco-conscious to prevent negative occurrences.

These coastal community engagements are part of the Ministry’s Ecotourism focus dubbed, 2025 Year of Ecotourism.
