Today, 9th January, 2025, a delegation from the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, the Monument and Relics Commission, and the National Museum visited the Sierra Leone Railway Museum. The delegation was led by the Honorable Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Mrs. Nabeela Farida Tunis, and included the Deputy Minister, Kadijatu Grace Kamara, Director of Culture, Creativity and Innovation, Foday Jalloh, Deputy Secretary, Sahr Philip Morsay, Administrative Manager of the Monument and Relics Commission, Ann-Marie Kamara as well as staff from the Ministry and its sub-vented agencie
The visit underscored the Ministry’s strong commitment to preserving Sierra Leone’s artifacts and heritage. It highlighted the importance of safeguarding these historic treasures for future generations while showcasing them as key elements of the country’s cultural and historical identity.
The experience also provided an insightful look into the technology that once powered Sierra Leone’s industrial sector, offering a poignant reminder of the ingenuity and dynamism of the country’s forebears.
This visit reinforced the need to protect and preserve the Railway Museum, along with many other symbols of the nation’s heritage, ensuring that they are passed down to future generation
