The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and the National Tourist Board with support from the World Bank Sierra Leone Economic Diversification Project (SLEDP) have in the Create and Innovate Challenge listened to presentation of proposals by the finalists for (Rural Tourism, Sand Mining and Waste Management) Challenges in the Tourism for All Create and Innovate Challenge. The Challenge was managed by Dmessage Limited, World Bank Consultant on Domestic Tourism Marketing.
After listening to presentation of proposals by finalists for the aforementioned challenges, an independent panel of judges including representative from the Anti-Corruption Commission announced that Sumaila A.S. Koroma won both the Rural Tourism and Sand Mining Challenges whiles Oswald Tech. Company won the challenge for Waste Management.
Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Tunis thanked all the participants for putting their thoughts and ideas together into a proposal for the challenges. She mentioned that all the proposals are impressive and those that do not make it will be invited to the Ministry for additional discussions on how to support their proposals. Minister Tunis used the occasion to also explain the Ministry’s flagship year-long Tourism for All Campaign.
Also, at Bintumani Conference Hall, Minister Nabeela Farida Tunis presented the Ministry’s Year-long Tourism for All Campaign. She shared success stories and gains made as well as the impact of the campaign on revamping interest in domestic tourist by locals.
The Tourism for All Campaign is an innovative approach to boost domestic tourism. The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs aims to utilize digital platforms to enhance growth and access to tourism offerings.
