The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs under the astute leadership of Nabeela Tunis is committed to uplifting the sector and continue it repositioning both domestically and in contemporary global tourism agendas.
Key Highlights of the Week- 12-16 September, 2023
👉 The Ministry under the Cultural Directorate held a two-day National Symposium on developing a strategic plan for the creative and cultural industries. The Symposium brought together the finest and most experienced brains in the aforementioned industries to provide equitable and inclusive strategy that serves as a catalyst for national unity and growth.
👉The Ministry held the first Inter-MDAs Planning Committee meeting with line MDAs notifying them on the hosting of the 2024 Budapest-Bamako Freetown Rally finish line slated for February-March 2024.
👉 The Director of Culture, Foday Jalloh served as guest lecture and did a presentation to Military students of the Horton Command and Staff College at Leicester Square, Freetown on the topic: Strength in Diversity- Using the Sierra Leone example.
👉The Act. Deputy Secretary, Philip Morsay accompanied by staff of the Ministry presented the Ministry’s Manpower to HRMO for 2024.
👉 The Minister, Nabeela Tunis paid a courtesy visit to P.C. Bai Kompa Bomboli III of Masiaka. Discussions were centered around creating a partnership with the community for the preservation of the reported Portuguese Slave Fort in Rotumba and other potential heritage sites in the chiefdom.
👉The Director of Tourism, Mohamed Jalloh and the General Manager of the National Tourist Board, Fatmata Hamid Carew are in the United States of America representing Sierra Leone in this year’s Africa Showcase North America.
